Mike Treen, a human rights campaigner and trade union leader in New Zealand, has been selected to represent New Zealand on board the Gaza Freedom Flotilla in an attempt to break the Israeli blockade.
This was announced last night at a “reclaiming the Palestinian narrative” public meeting addressed by by US/Palestianian author and journalist Dr Ramzy Baroud in Freemans Bay last night.
Treen is the national director of the Unite Union and spokesperson for Global Peace and Justice Auckland.
Kia Ora Gaza has selected Treen to represent New Zealand/Aotearoa on the next international Freedom Flotilla to challenge Israel’s illegal 10-year blockade of Gaza.
He will join other eminent rights advocates representing 20 countries on board the four-boat flotilla, due to reach Gaza in late July.
Treen will file some reports for Asia Pacific Report during his mission.
Dr Baroud is currently on a speaking tour of New Zealand.
