“You’re not just reporting on the story … you are the main character.”
That’s how award-winning Palestinian journalist and human rights defender Maha Hussaini sums up her experience while “documenting history” in Israel’s three-year genocidal war on Gaza.

And he discusses how her articles written during total blackouts ended up cited before the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
From the psychological toll of survivor’s guilt to the unique layers of suffering experienced by women, Maha opens up about the reality on the ground during genocide.
She reflects on why documenting history matters, even when international law fails, and proposes the one human right Palestinians need most: “The right to live without having to prove that our lives are worth saving.”
