Unfortunately this is the same old same old. Maori and Pacific Island people have been racially profiled by the NZ Police for decades and it never ceases. The statistics speak volumes and no amount of Police denial can change the facts. The NZ Police Commisioner has even said they have an ingrained structural racial bias.
The Police just repeat their usual window dressing exercise by trotting out a couple of “ethnic” police officers who wring their hands in disbelief but meanwhile it is business as usual for them. Welcome to our world.
