New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern asked US President Donald Trump to “send sympathy and love for all Muslim communities”.
She told Trump the best help he could provide in the wake of the Christchurch mosque attack would be sympathy and love for Muslim communities.
Ardern spoke to Trump on the phone early on Saturday morning ahead of flying to Christchurch, which was reeling after the attack on two mosques left at 50 people dead.
She said Trump had passed on his condolences, and asked if there was any help the United States could provide.
“He asked what offer of support the United States could provide. My message was: ‘Sympathy and love for all Muslim communities,'” Ardern said.
