					<description><![CDATA[The fact remains, the current national flag of Fiji, with the Union Jack in the canton, falsely implies that Fiji is a colonial dependency of a foreign empire, that no longer exists. It misrepresents Fiji both politically and culturally. 
Of the 54 independent nations of the British Commonwealth, only 4 still retain British colonial ensigns as their national flag. Hopefully one day Fiji will adopt a new flag that symbolises its own national identity. A flag that represents the independent, self-reliant and culturally rich country that it truly is.]]></description>
